Re: Mayor David Miller.
I have lived in my home for 19 years and the reality is I am going to loose it. I am a single hard working lady who works part time as a real estate secretary. I am only able to work part time hours as I have a disabled son who relies on me for care 24 hours a day seven days a week. Not only am I at risk of losing my job due to the critical state of the Real Estate Industry (Land Transfer Tax) but I am also going to loose my home. Mayor Miller in his infinite wisdom thought that a hike in property taxes would be benefical - beneficial to whom?? The sad reality is that there are thousands of people that are going to loose their homes. Unfortunately seniors, low income families, disabled individuals and people on fixed incomes are going to be forced to live on the street. Please as citizens of Toronto let’s ellect a Mayor to office that works for the people and takes pride in our city and it’s economic stature.
I agree 100% with Debbie Geen. Mayor Miller is the worst mayor this city has ever seen. In order to appease his existing homeowner constituants by not raising their property tax significantly, he instituted the Municipal Land Transfer Tax by applying this unfair tax on the backs of the 5% of buyers of resale homes in Toronto, forcing these buyers to look outside the borders of Toronto. As a consequence, sellers of homes in Toronto will find it more difficult to sell their homes. In addition to a global recession, this tax adds another obstacle in the path of the potential homebuyer. He forces the “sheep” on city council to go along with his socialist policies or be ostracized. It’s time for him to go…..
